One and a half years ago I wrote about a world wide poll to determine a new list of seven wonders of the world. Well, the results are in:
A poor choice, except for the Colosseum and the Taj Mahal. Petra and Macchu Picchu are also fantastic but only because of the nature. Having Chichen Itza on the list while the Egyptian pyramids didn't make it shows that you can't get a serious result from an online poll. Of course, the whole thing was just a clever money-making scheme anyway - they must have raked in millions from online advertising and SMS votes. Someone on Slashdot suggests the following list, which makes a lot more sense:
Yep, I only haven't visited the Chinese Wall and Christ Redeemer. Chichen Itza is visited by legions of tourists from Cancun, which is probably why it got elected.
Hah, I like the new seven wonders of the world. Thanks to you, there was only one I hadn't heard of before (Chichén Itzá). But maybe you visited that too? :-) *must check your pictures again*
